Frequently Asked Questions
Umm…do I have to be on a mountain/road bike to stay here?
Nope! You don’t even need to know how to ride one! While the DBH has amenities specifically catered to bikers, there’s no need to arrive on one. There are so many different ways to recreate in the Four Corners—hiking, trail running, kayaking, paddleboarding, rock climbing, the list goes on (and on, and on).
Can I bring my dog to the hostel?
We have three dog-friendly private rooms for an additional charge of $25 for one night, or $45 for two or more nights. Service animals are allowed with no charge. We have a dog bed, long leash, dog bowls and (of course) treats for your pups! Please call/email to let us know if you will be bringing along a dog/service-animal so we can properly accommodate you.
When is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is at 3pm and check-out is at 11am. If you plan on arriving early or staying in Dolores after check out time, we can store your belongings in a closet at the hostel. There is also a chance your room will be ready before check-in, so call or text ahead if you’d like to know!
Are bathrooms shared?
If you book a bed in a bunk room or a private room, bathrooms will be shared. You will have the use of three half baths, three private shower rooms, and a full ADA compliant bathroom with shower. The Sweet has a private full ensuite bathroom.
Does the hostel have a kitchen?
We sure do! Guests are welcome to cook/bake their little hearts out while staying here. We have two fridges to store your food, as well as labeled bins to store dry goods.
Should I bring my own towel, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash?
Nope, we got ‘em for ya! We also have your back if you forget things like toothbrushes, contact solution, earplugs, etc.
Do you have parking? What about for my camper/van?
Yes, we have ample street parking and a small lot with 9 parking spaces behind the building. If your van or camper fits into a standard parking spot, you’re all good! If driving a larger vehicle, call ahead and we will help accommodate you!
Do you accept walk-ins?
We sure do! If no one is at the front desk, call (970) 676-0036, and if we have availability, we will get a room ready for you. You can also book instantly on our website. Our building is secured with keypad locks and is self check in/out. You will receive a code automatically at 12pm on the day of your visit and can freely access the building after your 3pm check in.
Are kids allowed at the DBH?
Children are allowed in the private rooms with accompanying grown-up. The bunk rooms are for guests 18 years and older, unless you are taking advantage of our “Bunk Room Takeover” option, where you will have the entire room to yourself.
I just booked a bed in a bunk room. How will I secure my stuff while I’m out?
Upon arrival, you will receive a lock that you can put on a locker inside your bunk room, although most people opt to leave their valuables in their cars!
Coffee…must…drink…coffee…
We get you & we got you. Coffee will be ready every morning by 7:30. There is also a coffee maker in the kitchen if you’d like to brew your own. We have a cereal bar in the front lobby as well (complete with Lucky Charms cause YOU’RE ON VACATION!)
I’m camping. Can I just take a shower at the hostel?
Yes! Showers are $10 per person. We will give you a body towel and face towel, and you are welcome to use our shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
I’m on a bike tour, can I mail supplies to the Dolores Bike Hostel?
Totally! The DBH loves thru-bikers and hikers. Feel free to send supplies to us and we will store them for you until you get here (or, give our address to your mom, everybody loves a care package).
